Court fines APL England’s master for poor cargo loading

Following the container loss of the "APL England" cargo ship on 24 May off Sydney, the vessel's master faced a Queensland court over allegations of poor cargo loading.

In fact, APL England lost 40 containers while additional 74 containers have been damaged.

In light of the situation, containership's master is charged with two offences concerning the discharge of garbage into the sea and failing to ensure a vessel is operated so as not to cause pollution or damage to the Australian marine environment.

What is more, the charges carry maximum penalties more than $300.000.

Meanwhile, the Australian Maritime Safety Authority (AMSA) has detained APL England in the Port of Brisbane, as the inspection revealed that the lashing of the cargo was heavily corroded.
